Kate Middleton to step back from duties after Royal Ascot snub?

The Princess of Wales is expected to significantly reduce her public appearances for the remainder of the year, according to a new report.

Last week, Kate Middleton unexpectedly withdrew from a planned appearance at Royal Ascot, prompting concern and speculation. Aides were quick to downplay any alarm, insisting her absence was not unusual given her ongoing health situation. 

Now, the Daily Beast is reporting that Princess Kate's withdrawal from Royal Ascot hints at more challenges ahead.

A former palace staff member told the outlet, “The last few years have been horrific... The relentless speculation about her and William, Queen Elizabeth’s passing, the King’s diagnosis, and then her own cancer diagnosis and treatment—it’s taken its toll.”

The Princess has been undergoing preventative chemotherapy since announcing her cancer diagnosis earlier this year in a deeply personal video message that touched hearts around the world.

According to The Daily Beast, those close to the royal household expect Kate to “dramatically scale back” her in-person royal duties for the remainder of 2025. 

“She’ll take it much easier,” a source spilled to the outlet. “I’d be surprised if you see her more than three times in the next three months.”
