Instagram’s new feature will let users share Spotify songs on Stories

In a remarkable development, Instagram has announced a long-awaited feature that will allow users to share Spotify songs to Stories with sound, offering a more immersive way to engage with music on the platform.

Previously, when users shared a track from Spotify, it appeared in their Instagram Story without audio, linking to the song on the streaming app.

Now, viewers will be able to hear a preview of the shared track directly within Instagram, without leaving the app.

This subtle yet impactful update enhances the experience of music sharing and could encourage deeper discovery of new songs, artists, and genres among Instagram’s vast user base.

The update also shows Instagram's growing interest in positioning itself as a music discovery hub, amid rising competition from TikTok, which has already transformed how songs trend and chart globally.

The development comes a few days after the Meta-owned platform introduced a similar capability for Instagram Notes, allowing users to stream and showcase what they're listening to in real-time.

Followers on Instagram can now tap and explore shared music straight from Notes, creating more interactive ways for users to express their current moods or preferences.

Additionally, Instagram has enhanced visual storytelling by introducing new fonts to Stories and Reels.

As a bonus, users typing in symbols like “<3,” “:-)” or “***” can unlock custom, hand-drawn icons designed by the artist herself.
