iOS 26: Apple releases first public beta with enhanced AI features

Apple has officially released the first public beta of its upcoming mobile operating system, iOS 26.

The update introduces cutting-edge “Liquid Glass” user interface and other improved AI features.

It should be noted that the full public rollout is expected later this fall.

The most prominent change in iOS 26 is the introduction of the Liquid Glass design, marking the biggest visual overhaul since iOS 7.

This new interface brings a more transparent, fluid look to various UI elements such as buttons, app windows, navigation controls, and other on-screen components.

Liquid Glass is applied system-wide, enhancing the appearance of apps like Safari, Music, Camera, and Phone, as well as the Home Screen, Lock Screen, Control Center, and notification panels.

One of the standout design updates is the redesigned Lock Screen for both iPhone and iPad. It now features a dynamic 3D photo effect and a customisable clock.

Apple users can also apply a new transparent look to their app icons, further emphasising the glass-like aesthetic.

In terms of functionality, iOS 26 brings a variety of AI enhancements.

These include a real-time translation feature for conversations, AI-driven suggestions for polls in the Messages app, intelligent Shortcuts recommendations, and an improved Visual Intelligence tool that enables smarter image searches while browsing.

Alongside iOS 26, Apple has also rolled out beta versions of iPadOS 26, macOS 26, tvOS 26, and watchOS 26, all of which incorporate the Liquid Glass design language.
