Sydney Sweeney’s dramatic shift in her roles is reportedly a step closer towards her Oscar journey.

It all started when the Euphoria star’s first image of playing a female professional boxer role in latest biographical sports drama film Christy, was released.

For her role, Sweeney gained weight and underwent a significant physical transformation, which has raised eye-brows whether the Eden actress is launching ground for Oscar hopefuls.

Now, on Saturday night, July 26, an executive with a major Hollywood studio told Daily Mail that the 27-year-old actress is indeed on the hunt for an Academy Award.

The source added, “And to get an Oscar everyone knows you have to make a beautiful woman ugly. That's just how it is.”

The insider explained it further, saying, “Sydney had casting directors breaking down the door to her agent's office to offer her blockbusters.”

“But she chose to go for a relatively low-budget film which will show off her acting skills. It has ‘Oscar campaign’ written all over it.”

It is being said that the Anyone But You actress is following steps of Hollywood actresses such as Angelina Jolie for her role in Girl, Charlize Theron for her role in Monster and Mad Max: Fury Road, Nicole Kidman for The Hours and Gwyneth Paltrow for portraying a fat girl in Shallow Hal.

Sydney Sweeney starrer Christy is scheduled to release in September 2025.
