Is Julia Roberts starrer ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’ getting a sequel?

One of Julia Roberts’ most beloved romantic comedies, My Best Friend’s Wedding may be headed for a sequel soon.

The Oscar winning actress’ co-star in the film, Dermot Mulroney recently shared his thoughts about the potential sequel treatment in an interview with the New York Post.

While the actor admitted that “there is talk of a sequel”, he also added that personally, he did not know much about it at the time.

“Last I heard, quote, lawyers were talking, unquote,” he explained.

Furthermore, the 61-year-old actor and musician also opened up about his time making the film, describing it as “a dream”.

“Oh my gosh, the whole thing was a dream. I knew even when I got the audition for it with Julia, like waiting in line with a whole bunch of other guys and I got the role,” he recalled.

Further stating that he and “all of Hollywood knew” that they had “an exceptional movie” at their hands.

Previously, the film’s leading lady also expressed her eagerness to revive the majorly successful 1997 rom com.

She made the admission on Watch What Happens Live, when asked which one of her movies would she like to get a sequel.

“I think, maybe, ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’,” the 57-year-old actress replied, while explaining, “Because there are so many people in it, and to see what they’re doing and how Kimmy and Michael’s marriage is going.”

Notably, Julia Roberts played food critic Julianne Potter in 1997’s My Best Friend’s Wedding, who realises that she is in love with her best friend and sets out to confess her feelings while also attempting to put a stop to his upcoming wedding.

Dermot Mulroney played Julianne’s best friend, Michael O’Neal, while Cameron Diaz rounded out the cast as his fiancée Kimberly Wallace.
