Jennifer Lopez’s most unforgettable controversies
Times when J.Lo found herself in hot water

While her career has been highly celebrated, Jennifer Lopez hasn’t been a stranger to controversies and has frequently found herself surrounded by one controversy or the other.
Here are some of her controversies you may have forgotten about:
Sued by paparazzi

The 56-year-old singer and actress, who is also known as J.Lo., was sued over claims of reportedly sharing two paparazzi images to her social media without obtaining proper licensing rights.
On May 17, photographer Edwin Blanco and the photo agency BackGrid USA filed two lawsuits over taken in January 4, outside the Amazon MGM Studios x Vanity Fair Golden Globes pre-party at LA’s Bar Marmont.
The complaint alleges that the Shotgun Wedding actress stirred trouble for herself by posting the photos on Instagram and X, formerly known as Twitter, without seeking prior permission.
According to the claims, her post prompted many of her dedicated fans as well as fashion brands to repost the photos on their pages, including the designer of the faux fur coat she was wearing in the photos.
The lawyer of Blanco and BackGrid, Attorney Peter Perkowski, argued that Jennifer had used those images for promotional purposes.
According to the legal paperwork, BackGrid and Blanco’s representatives contacted her team soon after the incident. Although both sides had reached a verbal agreement, Jennifer allegedly never signed the formal agreement or delivered the payment.
However, this isn’t her first run-in with a copyright infringement lawsuit. She encountered a similar lawsuit for posting a paparazzi photo of her with her then boyfriend Alex Rodriguez.
While the case was later withdrawn, Peter says it should have been a wake up call for the star.
Her businesses have faced criticism

When Jennifer Lopez debuted her cocktail brand Delola in 2023, it was quickly overshadowed by a flood of heavy criticism.
The launch didn’t sit well with everyone, with many pointing out the Hustlers actress’ alleged hypocrisy. Many noted that her new business clashed with Jenniger’s longstanding claim that she avoids drinking alcohol for the sake of her skin and health.
Fans couldn’t ignore her past remarks, with some dismissing the venture as nothing more than a cash grab/money-making move from the On The Floor hitmaker.
She later cleared the air in July, on her Instagram account, sharing how she has begun indulging in the occasional cocktail after spending years alcohol free.
Despite her clarification, many fans still raised questions as her then partner Ben Affleck had been candid about his battle with alcohol addiction.
"And her partner is sober? It doesn't matter what type of 'good for you ingredients' and 'health labels' (gluten free) is in alcohol, it's still a carcinogenic toxin," a user expressed scepticism over Jennifer’s changed views on drinking.
Song credits dispute

Natasha Ramos, who once performed as a back up singer for J.Lo, went viral in 2024 after she took to TikTok alleging that she played a major role in one of Jennifer’s biggest hits.
"I think the problem with 'Jenny From the Block' is that they kept my laugh, and they kept ad-libs, and they turned her vocals like all the way down, and the 'from the Bronx' part is me," she expressed.
Previously, the former back-up singer had uploaded another video emphasising that Jennifer hadn’t taken the track from her, clarifying that the song was intended for her from the start, as the title implied.
According to Natasha, the final cut ended up having a striking resemblance to her reference track, as Jennifer’s lead vocals were subdued, leaving her mainly on background vocals.
In 2020, she also came forward on X, alleging that she hadn’t been fully compensated for her work on the mega hit track.
