2016: First Text:
Nick Jonas reached out to Chopra on Twitter after hearing from mutual friends that they should meet. “I’m hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet,” he recalled writing. Chopra gave him her number, and soon they were texting “friendly with an eye toward flirtation,” as Jonas described it.
February 2017: The Vanity Fair Oscars Party:
When they finally met in person, Jonas wasted no time making an impression. “This is in front of a bunch of people,” he remembered. “I say, ‘You’re real. Where have you been all my life?’ Like, loud.”
May 2017: First Met Gala appearance:
The pair attended the Met Gala together as Ralph Lauren’s guests, but at the time, it wasn’t romantic. “We were both wearing Ralph Lauren! And we decided to go together because it was fun,” Chopra said on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
2018: Things turn romantic:
By May 2018, things were heating up. “They’re flirtatious and have been hanging out and text all the time,” a source told PEOPLE. Casual dates turned into family introductions — Chopra met Jonas’ family in New Jersey, and soon after, Jonas flew to India to meet hers.
July 2018: The engagement:
Just two months into dating, Jonas proposed while celebrating Chopra’s 36th birthday in Crete. He even shut down a Tiffany & Co. store to pick the perfect ring. “They are so happy,” a source told PEOPLE.
August 2018: Going Public:
The couple went Instagram official with sweet engagement posts. Jonas wrote, “Future Mrs. Jonas. My heart. My love.” The pair celebrated with family and friends in Mumbai.
December 2018: Wedding Extravaganza:
Their nuptials in India were nothing short of spectacular, with a Western wedding officiated by Jonas’ father, followed by a Hindu ceremony honoring Chopra’s roots. The weekend included Mehendi celebrations, sangeet performances, and plenty of star-studded festivities.
2019: Supporting each other’s careers:
From Chopra appearing in the Jonas Brothers’ Sucker music video to Jonas walking the pink carpet at her Isn’t It Romantic premiere, the couple made sure to champion each other’s successes.
2020–2021: Music inspired by love:
Jonas’ 2021 solo album Spaceman was essentially a love letter to Chopra. “I sort of started writing this record back in July. My wife was over in Germany finishing up this little movie called The Matrix,” he said. “And I was like, ‘You know, I feel very disconnected from my person.’”
January 2022: Becoming parents:
The couple welcomed their daughter, Malti Marie, via surrogate. They announced, “We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time.”
2023: Sweet tributes and matching tattoos:

2024: Father’s Day celebration:
At Tribeca Festival, Jonas told PEOPLE that he wants to celebrate father’s day for his wife.
“My dad did an incredible job of making sure that everyone else felt loved on Father's Day, and I'm going to try to adopt that from him," he said. "We as fathers would not be where we are as fathers without incredible women to make that dream come true."
Jonas continued, "I'm so grateful to share this journey with my wife, who's just an absolute boss and amazing mother. It's more about her that day than me."
2025: Priyanka reflects on marriage:
In her Harper’s Bazaar UK March 2025 cover story, Chopra shared why Jonas was the one, “You have to look for someone who respects you. Respect is different from love and affection. You’ve got to kiss a lot of frogs until you find your prince.”
