For some Hollywood A-listers, luxury isn’t just fast cars and mansions, it’s entire islands. From eco-friendly resorts to historical hideaways, these stars have taken exclusivity to the next level by purchasing private paradises.
Here’s a look at celebrities who own their very own islands.

Back in 2005, The Revenant star bought the 104-acre Blackadore Caye off the coast of Belize. His vision was a “wellness-focused, luxury eco-resort” that integrates sustainability with comfort.
After years of setbacks and construction delays, Bloomberg reported that permissions were finally granted for plans featuring 36 resort bungalows and estate villas, designed with circadian lighting and solar panels.

Depp, paid $3.6 million for the property according to Forbes, and he named the beaches after his children, family members, and even close friends such as Hunter S. Thompson and Marlon Brando.
Depp also hosted his wedding weekend on this Island in 2015 when he married actress Amber Heard.
Shakira – Bonds Cay, Bahamas

In a surprising partnership, Colombian pop sensation Shakira teamed up with Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters to purchase Bonds Cay in the northern Berry District of the Bahamas. The duo reportedly spent $16 million on the 700-acre island, according to Coastal Living.
With five pristine white-sand beaches, three saltwater lakes, and proximity to Miami, the island is brimming with potential. Once developed as a hotel property, it was re-envisioned by Shakira and Waters as both an investment and a tropical escape.
George Clooney – River Thames Island, England

George Clooney and his wife Amal Clooney purchased a private island on the River Thames in Oxfordshire for a reported £10 million, according to Architectural Digest.
The property came with a 17th-century mansion, which the Clooneys extensively renovated. It boasts an indoor pool, a home cinema, a glasshouse, and a private boathouse. The couple also included a nursery for their twins, Alexander and Ella.
Ricky Martin – Ilha do Maia, Brazil

Ricky Martin joined the island owners’ club in 2008 when he purchased Ilha do Maia, a 19.7-acre island near Angra dos Reis, a popular Brazilian resort region.
According to PEOPLE en Español, the island features a large Portuguese colonial-style villa, complete with a spacious party room, and a surprisingly fortress-like vibe thanks to 12 cannons and watchtowers still on-site. The “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer has primarily used the island as a private vacation retreat.
