From Beyonce to Ellen DeGeneres: Celebrities who have left the U.S.
Find out which stars are relocating out of the U.S.

Either because of political developments or privacy issues in the U.S., several celebrities have made the decision to move abroad.
Check out who they are:
Beyoncé and Jay-Z

The Halo hitmaker and her rapper husband are reportedly moving to the Cotswolds, U.K.
As reported by The Sun, the power couple have received planning permission to build a “spectacular rural estate” on 58 acres of land on the outskirts of Wigginton.
Reason:
The harrowing Los Angeles wildfires earlier in 2025 reportedly prompted Beyoncé and Jay-Z to begin searching for a second home —a place where their privacy isn't under constant scrutiny.
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi

In late November 2024, it was reported that comedian Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, also left their famous Montecito home for Cotswolds.
Reason:
The Wrap disclosed that their mutual decision to move to the countryside was politically motivated by the election of Donald Trump as the President of the U.S.
The source went on to say that the couple are “never coming back.”
Sophie Turner

The Game of Thrones alum moved to America after marrying singer Joe Jonas in 2019.
The now-divorced couple first lived together in Los Angeles and later in Miami with their two daughters, Willa and Delphine.
Sophie and Joe sold their Miami home in August 2023, and shortly after, their divorce news started to make rounds on the internet.
Reason:
In an interview with Harper's Bazaar published in October 2023, the UK-born actress revealed that she was homesick while living in the U.S. and struggled with the country’s political structure at the time.
“The gun violence, Roe v Wade being overtunred… Everything just kind of piled on,” Sophie said, adding, “After the Uvalde shooting, I knew it was time to get the f*** out of there.”
Notably, she has since moved to West London.
Amber Heard

Amber Heard moved out of the U.S. with her daughter in 2022, following the conclusion of her infamous defamation trial with Johnny Depp.
Reason:
The Aquaman actress felt the need to move abroad and “get out of the U.S.” after receiving death threats and rampant online hate.
Amber first moved to the Spanish island of Mallorca, but then she settled in an upscale neighbourhood of Madrid.
Lily Collins

The Emily in Paris star and her husband Charlie McDowell, moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2023.
Reason:
Lily has had a strong admiration for Copenhagen and its culture ever since she went there with her husband for their honeymoon in 2021, which eventually led the couple to purchase a property and spend time there.
