Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton have called it quits.

The couple’s reps released a joint statement to the French news agency AFP, which revealed, “It is with much respect and deep care for each other that Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton have decided to part ways.”

Two years after their galloping romance attracted significant spotlight, let’s revisit some of their most iconic moments together.

Lumière Festival (2022)

Though Monica and Tim first met each other in 2006 (while they were in separate relationships with their famous exes, Vincent Cassel and Helena Bonham Carter respectively), they reconnected at the Lumière Festival in October 2022, where the actress presented her future filmmaker beau with a Lumière Award.

The former Bond girl reflected on their meeting with Elle France in 2023, sharing, “It’s one of those encounters that rarely happens in life.”

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024)

The couple created major buzz when they collaborated for the first time in their jointly impressive careers, on Beetlejuice Beetlejuice — sequel to Tim’s 1988 classic, Beetlejuice.

Though the role was a brief one, the collaboration itself was immensely fruitful for the pair, both of whom had only nice things to say about it.

“I’m so honoured to be part of this film and to come into Tim’s world. Tim is an artist and he knows how to make situations that are fantastic and horrific and comic and emotional all at the same time,” Monica said while at their movie’s premiere.

While the British director said of the movie, “On this last one, ‘Beetlejuice 2’, I really enjoyed it. I tried to strip everything and go back to the basics of working with good people and actors and puppets. It was kind of like going back to why I liked making movies.”

Monica by Tim (2024)

While they mostly stayed private about their short lived romance, a special moment during it was when Monica was photographed by Tim for a special birthday cover of the Italian Vogue.

Shot for the Italian star’s milestone 60th birthday, the cover was inscribed with, “Happy Birthday dear Monica, with love, Tim.”

As the cover was shared on Instagram, in a joint post from Vogue Italia and the ex couple’s profiles, PEOPLE reported, “The post’s caption, written largely in Italian, states that this marks the first time a Hollywood director has created a cover image for Italian Vogue and that Burton ‘chose to transform their love story into a dark fairy tale’.”
