Hollywoods cursed films: coincidence or something sinister
Why these movies have left people terrified

Since the ages of time, the rumors of cursed movie sets have plagued Hollywood. Besides freak accidents and deaths which occurred untimely, various productions were covered with spooky coincidences that left even the most secular people with an eyebrow raised. But are these indeed supernatural powers, at work--or mere fatality?
Poltergeist (1982)
It was the first idea to start the film curse. The film is based on a haunted house where several of the cast members had to die under either mysterious or tragic conditions shortly after the shooting. Child star Heather O Rourke died accidentally at the age of 12 and Dominique Dunne was killed at the age of 22. Viewers started wondering whether the chilling plot of the film somehow leaked into reality.
The Exorcist (1973)
It is another notorious example. During production, fires, injuries and even deaths were being reported. There are nine film-related individuals who were reportedly killed prior to the release of the film and bizarre accidents slowed down the filming. The Catholic Church even took the initiative to bless the set- something darker could have been attached to the film.
Superman’s Shadow
Another Hollywood mystery is known as the Superman Curse. Since the scandalous death of George Reeves in the year 1959 and the unfortunate paralysis of Christopher Reeve several decades later, most of the actors who played the Man of Steel appeared to be cursed with unusual ill fate. The trend is difficult to overlook though it was probably by chance. Science or Superstition? According to experts these curses are simply instances of pattern-seeking amongst humans. Out of thousands of movies that are produced, there are those that coincide with tragedy. According to psychologists, when individuals associate unrelated occurrences, they are trying to make sense of randomness, and particularly when the narratives touch on the death, evil, or the supernatural.
Allure of the Unknown and Notwithstanding
logical reasons film curses continue to exist since we love mysteries. They make Hollywood allure a little bit darker and it is a reminder that storytelling, on screen or off screen, is a two-sided sword. It could be destiny, it could be coincidence, or one can never understand what it is, but these chilling Hollywood legends make sure that there are certain movies that will always remain haunting off-screen as they are on-screen.
