Johnny Depp is set to play the leading role in screen adaptation of a novel by Charles Dickens.

Titled as A Christmas Carol, the 62-year-old actor will tackle the lead role of Ebenezer Scrooge, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In a statement announcing the project, filmmaker Marc said, "We’re in a beautiful location with a fantastic crew and a thrilling, ferocious story to tell.”

According to him, this is going to be fun.

The forthcoming project has been described as "a thrilling ghost story set in Dickens’ London.

It follows the story of a day drinker’s supernatural journey to face his past, present and future and fight for a second chance.

It showcases the story of a private-yacht bartender, played by Madelyn Cline, who becomes entangled with a mysterious guest onboard, portrayed by the Pirates of the Caribbean actor.

Their connection deepens, and they are drawn into a dangerous game involving a criminal figure played by Penélope Cruz.

Apart from Johnny Depp, Cruz, and Cline, the movie also includes Manu Ríos, Arón Piper, Juan Diego Botto and an emerging actress, Anika Boyle.

A Christmas Carol, which is in final negotiations to be picked by Paramount Pictures studio, has been set for November 13, 2026.
