Dakota Johnson's life now after Chris Martin split

Dakota Johnson isn’t rushing into another serious relationship following her split from Chris Martin in June after eight years together.

The Fifty Shades of Grey star is taking her time on the dating front, though things seem to be looking up. 

According to a source, Dakota “has been slowly dating again and she’s happy.”

Johnson and the Coldplay frontman had been living together in Malibu before parting ways and before Martin, Johnson had been in other long-term relationships, including with musician Noah Gersh and actor Jordan Masterson.

Now, the actress is reportedly thriving. “She’s in a great place,” a source told People, “She’s busy, fulfilled and she’s moved on.”

The pair who were once engaged were last photographed together in May. Engagement rumours first surfaced in 2020, though neither seemed eager to walk down the aisle.

Professionally, the Madame Web star has had a busy year as her film Splitsville premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in May and hit U.S. theaters in August.

Earlier, she starred in Materialists which earned over $100 million at the box office.

While the exact reasons for her breakup with Martin remain private, fans have speculated that one of the 36-year-old’s personal pet peeves might have played a part she recently admitted that one of her “red flags” is men wearing flip-flops.

Meanwhile, Chris Martin has stayed active in music, co-writing an extended version of Ma Meilleure Ennemie for the Arcane: League of Legends soundtrack and Dakota Johnson will next appear in the upcoming psychological romantic thriller Verity.
