Fans of Freaky Friday have something to look forward to: Freakier Friday is coming to digital streaming this week.

The Disney comedy reunited Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan who continue the story of the mother-daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman, who famously switched bodies in the 2003 classic.

Set years later, the sequel follows Anna (Lohan) now a mother to her own daughter (Julia Butters) and a soon to be stepdaughter (Sophia Hammons).

A special Freakier Friday event in Los Angeles celebrated the film’s release at the site of its memorable bachelorette party scene.

Fans enjoyed themed activities, exclusive memorabilia and appearances from stars Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto and Haley Hudson the original Pink Slip band member.

The film’s director Nisha Ganatra also joined the festivities sharing insights into the movie’s humor and heart.

“It was just so fun,” Ganatra said, “When you have Vanessa Bayer, everything’s gonna be funny, especially with Lindsay and Jamie involved."

She, "I really wanted to get the switch right, because that’s the magic of the movie. If you don’t buy that moment, everything falls apart.”

Ganatra described the film’s ambitious four way body swap as one of her toughest directing challenges. “Oh my God, it was so confusing on the page,” she laughed, adding, “You’re really directing eight performances with four actors. It’s super challenging, but they made it look easy.”

When asked about a possible Freakier Friday 3, Nisha Ganatra teased, “I think it’s time for the guys to swap. But to me, the joy of ‘Freakier Friday’ is the celebration of sisterhood and chosen family, just unapologetic female energy.”
