Tech funding news: J2 Ventures raises new $250m fund

J2 Ventures has announced the closing of its new $250 million Brookhaven Fund, marking another milestone for the company.

The Boston-based venture capital firm is known for investing in dual-use technologies that serve both commercial and national security purposes.

The new fund will help J2 Ventures back startups developing advanced computing, cybersecurity, communications, and artificial intelligence (AI) tools, along with health technologies focused on remote physiological monitoring.

According to the firm, Brookhaven aims to accelerate innovations that boost national resilience while also achieving commercial success.

The managing partner and co-founder of J2 Ventures, Alex Harstrick said the fund is designed to support founders whose work “strengthens national security and everyday systems that keep people safer and more connected.”

The fund includes major limited partners such as JP Morgan, MetLife, Alpha Leonis Partners, and the State Investment Council of New Mexico.

Led by a team of veterans, scientists, and entrepreneurs, J2 Ventures has previously supported more than 35 startups, including Oura, Codemetal, and Apex Space.

The firm’s new Brookhaven Fund follows its $150 million Argonne Fund raised in 2024 and its inaugural $68 million fund in 2021.
