As reported by Daily Mail, his latest action thriller, made on the budget of $110 million, struggled at the box office earning just $17 million domestically.
Now, an insider, in this regard, revealed that the flop could affect Powell’s rise to action stardom, noting, "This movie was a major test. His first huge mega-budget film where he’s the marquee name."
According to the source, Hollywood is trying to position the 37-year-old actor as the next Tom Cruise, but this is a major global failure.
Another insider told the publication that the Anyone But You star Daily Mail that Powell is already looking ahead and has been working for a long time, and his star rising is a long time coming.
The tipster dished out that Powell has been working for a long time to be the next big star, noting, “Or the next Tom Cruise doesn't happen overnight, or at all.”
It further dished out, "With Running Man flopping, it really sucks, because Glen thought it was going to be an enormous hit, now that it wasn't, he is looking to dust himself off and get to people and in their good graces next time.
"He has a lot of work upcoming and many still want to work with him. This is looking to be more of a bump in the road than a full derailment."
For the unversed, Glen Powell starrer The Running Man, released on November 14, is a reboot of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1987 movie with same name.
