Cynthia Erivo ditches green colour for now on 'Wicked: For Good' press tour

Cynthia Erivo has not been wearing much green colour during the Wicked: For Good press tour but the actress assures fans it’s not a permanent change.

The American actress, who stars as Elphaba in the two-film Wicked series, became known for translating her character’s signature green into her outfits while promoting the first film.

However, during this latest tour, the Harriet star has notably skipped this type entirely.

Speaking on Today, the 38-year-old explained that moving away from green was a thoughtful, symbolic choice.

"I haven't retired it completely, I just haven't worn it as much this time around, because I don't know, we wanted an evolution for her [Elphaba]," Erivo said, adding, "We wore [green] a couple times through the [first] tour. This time we didn't wear it at all."

she added, "This isn't the last time you'll see green on me, it’s actually one of my favorite colors, but it wasn't right for this time around."

In previous appearances, Erivo embraced a range of green looks inspired by Elphaba.

Moreover, the The Outsider actress’ stunning Wicked looks included a bright green Louis Vuitton dress with a dramatic silk stole, a forest green corseted dress with a matching hat and a custom emerald green Louis Vuitton gown with intricate beading.

Though Cynthia Erivo has shifted her style for the current press tour, fans can expect to see the iconic Elphaba green return in future appearances as the actress continues to balance character inspiration with fashion growth.
