Callum Turner is now considered the top contender to become the next James Bond among a long list of hopefuls.

According to the Metro UK, the 35-year-old British actor, who is engaged to Dua Lipa, is currently the leading favourite to replace Daniel Craig, who bid farewell to the franchise in 2021.

UK betting firm Coral has reduced Turner’s odds to 7-4, with spokesperson John Hill saying the company had been “knocked over with support” for him in the last 24 hours.

Turner’s rise has pushed earlier favourites like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James, James Norton, Martin Compston, Henry Cavill, Anthony Boyle, Harris Dickinson, and Jack Lowden further down the list, though they’re all still being considered.

Regé-Jean Page has also re-emerged as another contender after keeping a low profile for a while.

Notably, director Denis Villeneuve is said to be looking for a male, British, and relatively unknown actor for the next 007, a description that fits Turner well.

Despite the growing speculation, no one from the production team has publicly confirmed Callum Turner or anyone else as officially signed to play James Bond.
