King Charles prepares to welcome highly anticipated historic state visit to Britain
This event marks King Charles’ third state visit hosted this year
For the first time in almost three decades, King Charles is gearing up to welcome the German President for a state visit, marking a significant diplomatic moment this week.
The Royal couple, King Charles and Queen Camilla will formally greet Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his spouse, Elke Budenbender, On Wednesday, marking the occasion with an open air welcome in central Windsor.
From there, they will embark on a carriage ride through the streets, heading towards the castle in classic royal fashion.
Prince William and Princess Kate will also meet with Mr Steinmeier and Ms Budenbender at Heathrow, welcoming them at Heathrow Airport, before accompanying them to Berkshire town.
A ceremonial welcome awaits Mr Steinmeier in the castle quadrangle, where the 77-year-old Monarch and his wife 78-year-old Queen Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales will all be present.
The group will gather for a lavish state banquet in the historic St George Hall on Wednesday evening.
The next day, the German President will pay a private tribute at Queen Elizabeth II’s tomb in St George's Chapel, before attending a Big Help Out reception along with the King and Queen to celebrate the power of volunteering.
Before officially saying goodbye, they will be introduced to the State Sleigh, created by Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s husband and a native of Germany.
This event marks Charles’ third state visit hosted this year, after visits from French President Emmanuel Macron and US President Donald Trump.
