King Charles is preparing for a possible reunion with his younger son, Prince Harry, and his grandchildren next month, marking a potential step towards healing within the royal family. His Majesty has not seen Harry's children in person for four years.

Royal Expert Emily Nash, writing for Hello!, discussed the possibility of the meeting taking place. "Who is Sato? Is it Prince Harry? I am his children four years after they come back to the UK together as a family, could upset Prince William," she wrote.

Diaries could determine reunion

Nash explained that whether the reunion happens may come down to scheduling. "Sources tell me that the schedule will be busy and that any reunion with his father would depend on their already packed diaries matching up. If Charles doesn't see his son – and the grandchildren he has not seen in person for four years – what message does that send? And if he does, what does that mean for his relationship with his heir, Prince William?" she said.

A successful meeting would give Charles a long-awaited opportunity to spend time with grandchildren he has been unable to see in person for years, something royal watchers say he has clearly hoped for.

Path towards reconciliation

While tensions between Harry and Prince William have followed claims made in interviews and Harry's memoir, Spare, a reunion between Charles and his son could represent a meaningful gesture towards bridging the family divide. "The royal brothers remain on non-speaking terms in the wake of claims made by Harry in numerous interviews, as well as in his memoir Spare. For Charles, either decision will carry a cost and, inevitably, bring a host of headlines," Nash said.

Even so, the prospect of Charles reconnecting with his son and grandchildren offers a hopeful note amid the wider family story.
