'Saturday Night Live UK' casting gains momentum as network develops new season

On Wednesday, Sky exec Phil Edgar-Jones confirmed that casting for the U.K. version of Saturday Night Live is moving full-speed ahead.

“Casting at the moment is well underway,” he stated. “We’re looking at writers and have had a great response from the comedy community. This is an opportunity for us to nurture that next generation of comic talent.”

Speaking on a panel at Content London, Phil, Sky’s executive director of unscripted originals, lightheartedly revealed that he can not share details when asked about the upcoming sketch series.

But according to Variety, he did go on to share enough information to keep the audience intrigued, saying, "We’re so excited about it because it is an opportunity for us to really nurture that next generation of comic talent. So we’re casting at the moment, we’re sort of well underway with that. We’re looking at writers."

Phil also added that the network had "such a great response to it from the comedy community and I’m really, really excited about it. It’s going to be a lot of fun."
