Sean “Diddy” Combs, currently serving his four-year prison sentence since October, has filed for immediate release with the federal appeals court in New York.

According to The Independent, the jailed rapper is seeking a reversal of “his conviction on prostitution-related charges or direct his trial judge to lighten his four-year sentence.”

His lawyers have claimed in the latest appeal that Diddy’s imprisonment was the result of a federal judge “who let evidence surrounding charges he was acquitted of unjustly influence the punishment.”

The music mogul is currently incarcerated in a New Jersey federal prison, from where he is scheduled for release in May 2028.

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ conviction was under the Mann Act, “which bans transporting people across state lines for any sexual crime.”

While he was acquitted on other charges related to sex trafficking and racketeering, following the conclusion of his trial on October 3.
