Timothée Chalamet's recent interview before the release of his new movie Marty Supreme has caused quite an uproar on social media, especially among his fans.

During promotion in a recent interview about his movie, loosely inspired by the life of table tennis player Marty Reisman, the 30-year-old actor praised his own work as "top-level".

Chalamet did not stop here as he went on to say, “This is probably my best performance... and it's been like seven, eight years that I feel like I've been handing in really, really committed, top-of-the-line performances.

"And it's important to say it out loud because the discipline and the work ethic I'm bringing to these things — I don't want people to take it for granted."

His self assurance and behaviour suddenly became a hot topic among social media users, sparking a significant debate online, with some accusing him of arrogance.

The Wonka star later addressed the criticism in an interview with IndieWire, and defended his remarks by saying that they are "in the spirit of Marty" and part of his intense promotional effort to highlight an original film.

His marketing stunts for the movie have sparked debate; some see it as a bold move and some don't agree.

But it could also be a clean and clear case of meta marketing to generate buzz, considering his past humble interviews and top-notch performances.

The Dune actor’s unique approach of praising himself is extremely similar to his real life Marty Reisman, played by Chalamet in Marty Supreme.

The real table tennis player is indeed depicted as arrogant, selfish, narcissistic, and overly confident man.

So, is it Timothée Chalamet's arrogance due to rising stardom or fame, or just a plain strategy? Either way, Gossip Herald believes it's working for both the movie and actor.
