Sydney Sweeney's newly released movie, The Housemaid, has marked a significant turnaround in her career, breaking a streak of consecutive box office flops in 2025, a year that had been marked by mostly flopped releases.
As reported by Daily Mail, the movie debuted to figures of $19-20million in its opening weekend over in the US.
However, the film did beat The Spongebob Movie: Search For Squarepants and Timothée Chalamet starrer Marty Supreme.
Speaking about a potential sequel to The Housemaid, as the Euphoria star said, "I think that we’ll just have to wait and see."
The 28-year-old actress’ erotic psychological thriller film grossed over $56 million worldwide, making it Sweeney's top-grossing movie since 2023’s Anyone But You.
This success marks a turning point for Sweeney, who had five consecutive flops before The Housemaid.
His 2025 was filled with series of massive failures Including the biopic movie Christy, a drama titled Americana, and the sci-fi thriller film Eden.
On professional front, Sydney Sweeney’s upcoming project includes Euphoria Season 3, Barbarella, and Scandalous!.
Overall, the actress had a rough patch in 2025 with consecutive box office flops but let’s hope the actress shines more this year and has a stronger come back like The Housemaid.
