The six-year-old tried to intervene to protect his mother, police say
A man has landed behind bars after an attack on both his pregnant partner and her young son following a domestic dispute.
Court documents show 25-year-old Almoni Lewis was arrested on Friday after officers were called to reports of an assault at a home in Greenville, reports WITN.
Investigators say the argument turned physical when Lewis allegedly pulled her pregnant girlfriend to the ground and struck her in the face and head. Police say he also bit her on the lip during the attack.
The woman’s six-year-old son reportedly tried to intervene to protect his mother. According to arrest warrants, Lewis pushed the child to the ground when he stepped in.
The situation escalated further when the woman attempted to call 911. Police say Lewis grabbed her phone and threw it, cutting off the emergency call.
Lewis now faces a string of charges, including assault on a pregnant woman, domestic violence, and other.
