Adam Sandler says marriage to wife Jackie was ‘destiny,’ with or without fame
The couple married in June 2003 and shares two daughters, Sadie and Sunny
Adam Sandler believes his marriage was inevitable regardless of his career.
During the Palm Springs International Film Festival’s film awards gala in Palm Springs, California, on Saturday, January 3.
The actor gave the speech while receiving the prestigious Chairman's Award and said he would still be married to his wife, Jackie Sandler, even if he had never become a successful actor, calling their relationship “destiny.”
“That’s destiny. Nothing stops that,” Sandler said.
In addition, the 59-year-old actor was honored with the Chairman’s Award for his performance in Jay Kelly when he reflected on an alternate version of his life, one in which he might have worked as an electrical engineer alongside his father instead of pursuing acting.
“I sometimes think about it,” Sandler said. “If I didn’t click that year and went to work for my dad… first off, I’d probably still be married to my wife, Jackie.”
He added with humor that their life would look different financially, joking that they would have “10 less bathrooms” and fewer statues of himself.
