Gwyneth Paltrow said her Glee debut came with unexpected pressure.

The Oscar-winning actress recalled that filming the musical mashup Singing in the Rain/Umbrella during her first episode of the Fox series was “tense,” despite the performance later becoming one of the show’s most memorable moments.

“I remember it was tense, because something was wrong with the water that day,” Paltrow said on Entertainment Weekly’s The Awardist podcast.

“There were bubbles. They were trying to get bubbles out of the water.” Paltrow said.

The actress joined Glee in season 2 as substitute teacher Holly Holliday, appearing in three episodes.

Her guest arc ultimately earned her the 2011 Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy.

The actress told the host that the finale of the series proved the most challenging, but also the most rewarding.

“I had the best time doing that number,” she said, adding, “I was drilling down on all the choreography.”

She also noted the pace of television production.

“We did the whole thing and then it was like, ‘Okay, lunch!’” Gwyneth Paltrow said, adding, “If it were a movie, it would’ve taken a week. It was a whirlwind.”
