Charlie Hunnam hints at marriage to longtime girlfriend Morgana McNelis at the Critics Choice Awards

Charlie Hunnam attended the 2026 Critics Choice Awards in California to honour his nomination in the Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television category.

The actor, nominated for his performance in Monster: The Ed Gein Story, arrived solo at the event and proceeded to reference his longtime girlfriend as his “wife” — prompting wedding speculation.

While discussing his “quiet” New Year’s celebrations, Hunnam said, “I always like to ring in the new year mainly on the 1st rather than on the 31st. So my wife and I went to bed early, got up, had a really beautiful hike and came in, set some intentions.”

According to PEOPLE, the mainly reclusive couple have been together for “almost two decades”, recently enjoying a “rare public date night” at the 2025 Emmy Awards in September.

Though Charlie Hunnam lost the Critics Choice Award to Stephen Graham for Adolescence, the actor famously went to great lengths to play the titular serial killer in Monster: The Ed Gein Story, which he just revealed had prompted his partner to tell him, “‘Dude. You have to stop with the voice.’”
