Ethan Hawke praises daughter Maya Hawke’s turn in ‘Stranger Things’: ‘I am so proud of her’

Ethan Hawke showered praise on his daughter and fellow actor, Maya Hawke, who is widely known for her role in the recently concluded Stranger Things.

While attending the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards on Saturday, January 3, the Blue Moon star reacted to his daughter’s performance while also appreciating the “whole group of people” behind her Netflix series.

“I am so proud of her. I am so proud of that whole group of people that made that show. I don’t think people understand how difficult it is to make something that bold and that giant and that swashbuckling and have it resolve as beautifully as they did,” he said.

While he admitted that Maya’s character, Robin Buckley, is “obviously” his favourite, the 55-year-old actor stated that the show “took care of every character.”

“I was so impressed with the whole thing. I was talking to her this morning and I think in 20 years she’s going to be amazed at what this moment in time means to her. It will be important for a long time,” he added.

Maya Hawke joined Stranger Things in its third season, which aired in 2019, while she remained with it till its conclusion on December 31, 2025.

Meanwhile, Ethan Hawke has been making red carpet appearances amid the ongoing awards circuit to honour the multiple nominations he has been receiving for his performance in Richard Linklater’s Blue Moon.
