Shawn Levy praises Tom Cruise’s skills in upcoming movie ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’
Tom Cruise starrer ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ set to hit U.S. theaters in May 2027
Star Wars: Starfighter's director Shawn Levy talked about Tom Cruise's hidden talent.
As per Deadline, Levy praised the three time Golden Globe-winning actor for his hands-on approach while filming the standalone Star Wars installment.
“Last week Steven Spielberg was here. And now Tom Cruise is wielding a camera, ruining his very nice shoes,” the director told The New York Times, after suggesting that Cruise step into ankle-length pond water to operate a camera during a lightsaber duel scene.
He added, “Now when you see the movie, you’ll know that part of it was shot by Tom, I mean, how cool is that?”
The New York Times visited the UK set in November, coinciding with the Top Gun actor’s arrival via helicopter.
Moreover, Starfighter is a standalone story set five years after Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker (2019).
Written by Jonathan Tropper as the film features a star-studded cast including Ryan Gosling, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, Flynn Gray, and Amy Adams.
Prior to mention, the Star Wars: Starfighter is set to hit U.S. theaters on May 28, 2027.
