More than 100 previously sealed court documents have been made public in the ongoing lawsuit between Elon Musk and Sam Altman, revealing behind-the-scenes communications among some of Silicon Valley’s most influential figures.

The newly released material includes text messages, emails, and personal writings that shed light on internal discussions at OpenAI.

The documents detail conversations between Musk and Altman about the company’s future, as well as late-night exchanges involving Satya Nadella, chief executive of Microsoft.

Among the documents are excerpts from the personal diary of OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman.

In several entries, Brockman reflected on financial ambition, independence, and long-term goals, including questions about what it would take to reach billionaire status.

Musk filed the lawsuit in 2024, claiming OpenAI’s leadership misled him about plans to shift away from its original nonprofit mission.

He has said he contributed around $38 million when the organisation was founded as a nonprofit. OpenAI has strongly denied the accusations, maintaining that Musk was aware of discussions around adopting a for-profit structure.

In a statement, OpenAI said the lawsuit is without merit and said it looks forward to presenting its case at trial.

The documents also reveal Nadella disclosed having an indirect investment in Neuralink and showed he was working on a book focused on the future of artificial intelligence.
