In newly disclosed documents today, a 2023 message from one of the movie’s leading actors came just two days before a pivotal hearing in Blake Lively‘s ongoing year-long case of sexual harassment and retaliation against Justin Baldoni and the producers of the Sony-distributed film.
Besides the anticipated criticisms by Lively of Baldoni as a “wild boar” and a “fool,” the documents contain various insights and vivid details scattered throughout the thousands of pages filed in court before Thursday’s key judgment hearing with Judge Lewis Liman.
The files include communications and deposition transcripts from Lively, Slate, IEWU author Colleen Hoover, screenwriter Christy Hall, Claire Ayoub, IEWU actress Isabela Ferrer, Baldoni’s former Man Enough podcast co-host Liz Plank, some of Baldoni’s publicists, and notable mentions of Taylor Swift (who calls Baldoni a “jerk” in a 2024 text message), Hugh Jackman, and Ryan Reynolds.
This torrent of information paints a picture of a juvenile boys’ club led by Baldoni.
On June 4, 2023, Slate stated bluntly, calling the Wayfarer Studios co-founder and IEWU director “the king of buffoons and a profound narcissist.”
Not surprisingly, the widespread disclosure backs up Lively’s claims during and after production that while she tried her hardest to push through – she found out that, on several occasions after she expressed concern over their inappropriate actions, both Baldoni and (Wayfarer CEO Jamey) Heath went out of their way to malign her.
Lively’s case, which became public when the actress’ December 20, 2024-filed California Civil Rights Department complaint surfaced, alleges Baldoni repeatedly bothered her on set.
Embracing a distinctly modern stance, Lively also claims Baldoni initiated a harsh online smear campaign against her to counter accusations he and his Wayfarer inner circle feared she would make against the Jane the Virgin star.
Heading to a May trial if the involved parties fail to settle through court-mandated negotiations next month, the lawsuit featuring multiple celebrities saw Baldoni’s $400 million countersuit dismissed last year.
This spring’s proceedings have Lively seeking about $500 million for damage to her reputation, family, and businesses.
