Blake Lively's messages with Taylor Swift related to Justin Baldoni have come to attention in the developing It Ends With Us legal situation.

Within these messages, which were partially revealed, Lively described Baldoni as “this doofus director of my movie” and called him “a clown” who “thinks he’s a writer now.”

Lively turned to Swift — who was reportedly heading to see her while Baldoni was at Lively’s place — to endorse a new version of the script she was suggesting "even without having read it," according to Baldoni's lawyers.

Swift is said to have responded, "I'll do anything for you !!" Later, Lively told the singer that she was "so epically heroic today" and that she "recapped every moment" to her husband Ryan Reynolds.

"I kept remembering stuff- You making s--- up about me and lenses. And referring to yourself as my doll.

"This clown falling for all of it. But also resisting it. You are the worlds absolute greatest friend ever," Lively reportedly mentioned in her message to Swift.

Lively's legal counsel stated that the shared texts are lacking important context in revised exhibits filed on Tuesday, highlighting Lively's statement where the actress explained she“sent Taylor the script on her way to my apartment because Justin was still there, and I asked her to read them.

"I told her she didn’t have to, I didn’t want her to feel pressured to do that, but I hoped that she would.”

The purported texts were made unsealed on Tuesday, before a summary judgment hearing in Lively's ongoing legal battle with Baldoni, 41, planned for Jan 22.

Swift, 36, is not directly involved in the lawsuit, but her name continues to be mentioned around Justin Baldoni’s claims that Lively sought external influence during disputes regarding the film's production.

Swift is also identified as a possible witness on a list given by Lively's legal team, while Baldoni’s legal team tried to summon Swift in May.

A complaint submitted in January 2025 from Baldoni alleged that Lively referred to Swift as one of her “dragons” in a message exchange and claimed that the singer pushed him to agree to script alterations for the film.

On Tuesday, Lively's team did not refute the language but once again pointed out the missing context, referring the court to the "complete" message exchange, including further messages from Lively to Baldoni mentioning “we all benefit” from her relationship with Reynolds and Swift and “you will too, I can promise you.”

Swift’s team responded against the May 2025 subpoena from Baldoni's side, with a representative separating the pop star from the project and stating: “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.”

“The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song, ‘My Tears Ricochet,’” the rep added, accusing Baldoni’s team of using Swift’s name “to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”

The legal dispute began in December 2024, when Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni while alleging harassment and retaliation.

Baldoni counterclaimed with a $400 million lawsuit, which was rejected in June by U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman.

The trial is presently set to commence on May 18.
