Internal memo reveals leadership changes by Microsoft's new commercial CEO
Microsoft's sales leader, Judson Althoff, took on the role of commercial CEO in October
Judson Althoff, a long-serving insider at Microsoft, was recently advanced to commercial CEO and is making adjustments to his senior team.
As reported by Business Insider, he promoted Deb Cupp to executive vice president and chief revenue officer for global enterprise sales, as noted in the message.
Cupp previously held the position of president and chief revenue officer of enterprise, based on an internal organisational diagram from when Althoff was appointed in October.
Althoff's new role is designed to allow CEO Satya Nadella and Microsoft's technical leads to concentrate more on AI, according to an insider memo accessed by Business Insider, which described the transformation as a "major AI platform transition."
Cupp has been part of Microsoft for over eight years and is renowned for aiding the company in customising cloud services for various sectors.
In her latest position, Cupp will handle the corporation's most significant customer accounts and executive links.
"Judson broadened his management team's responsibilities to give them more time to zero in on Microsoft's commercial product direction and ensure that the feedback cycle between clients and product decisions is as streamlined as possible," a Microsoft representative mentioned.
"This feedback cycle is essential now as AI adoption accelerates, and our clients anticipate these features to become functional in their operations more rapidly than ever."
The memo reveals that Althoff has also made other moves, including:
Mala Anand is now EVP & Chief Customer Experience Officer. Althoff expressed this role as "merging our complete range of services, covering Industry Solutions Delivery, Customer Success, and Support—under Customer Experience & Success."
Previously, Anand was president and chief commercial experience officer, according to Althoff's October organisational chart.
Moreover, Nick Parker is positioned as EVP & Chief Business Officer of Worldwide Sales & Solutions (WSS).
