Apple Martin shares how skin struggles affected her self-esteem
Apple Martin admits her self-esteem took a hit during severe acne breakouts.
Apple Martin has opened up about her struggle with skin confidence in a candid new video for Vogue’s Beauty Secrets.
The 21-year-old daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin admitted that although her acne wasn't "crazy crazy," it significantly bruised her self-esteem.
Turning to her famous mother for help, Apple revealed that Paltrow utilised her extensive Goop network to find solutions.
"My mom definitely gave me advice. God bless her," Apple quipped. "She would ask all of her super 'Goop-y' people about where I should go visit."
Following numerous dermatologist visits, Apple eventually embraced a "chill" routine and plenty of water.
Most of her severe breakouts occurred during the pandemic, allowing her to hide away, but her perspective has since shifted.
"Now, I'm just kind of like, I'm human. What am I gonna do if I have a pimple? It's not the end of my life," she shared.
Beyond skincare, Apple used the platform to "come clean" about cosmetic rumours, admitting she had lip filler once at 18 but found it too large.
She attributes her current look to clever lip liner and pouting. Despite being a burgeoning fashion icon—recently seen at the Marty Supreme premiere wearing her mother’s vintage 1996 Calvin Klein gown—Apple remains grounded.
She describes her personal style as a blend of "classic '90s and cool grandpa," prioritising authenticity over trends.
For the young model, the ultimate beauty secret is simply accepting that having a "new pimple" is just part of being human.
