Selena Gomez reveals Taylor Swift’s 'sweetest gift' for her 30th birthday
Gomez confirmed that Swift’s track "Dorothea and Family" was inspired by their bond
Selena Gomez has revealed a hidden talent belonging to her long-time best friend, Taylor Swift: the art of painting. Appearing on Tuesday’s episode of the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, the 33-year-old actress described a deeply sentimental, handmade gift Swift created for her 30th birthday.
The bespoke artwork features a nocturnal lakeside scene, intricate needlework, and a poignant message for the future.
“She did it on an actual cloth, and she painted a beautiful lake,” Gomez explained. The piece includes their specific zodiac signs—Cancer and Sagittarius—set against a moonlit sky.
Beyond the brushwork, Swift painstakingly embroidered a personal note. “It’s just, instead of writing, ‘Here’s to the next 30 years,’ or printing it, she sewed every letter,” Gomez shared, calling it “the sweetest gift.”
The artwork also features handwritten lyrics from a song Swift composed about their friendship.
Gomez’s husband, Benny Blanco, admitted he was “fully blown away” when he discovered the piece in storage. “I said, ‘Who made this painting?’ It’s like one of the best paintings I’ve ever seen,” he recalled.
The episode further confirmed that Swift’s tracks Dorothea and Family were inspired by their bond, which began in 2008. From supporting Gomez at her lavish Santa Barbara wedding last September to Gomez’s upcoming role as a bridesmaid for Swift’s nuptials to Travis Kelce, the duo remains inseparable.
This latest revelation offers a rare glimpse into the private, creative gestures that have sustained their eighteen-year friendship through the highest peaks of global stardom.
