Selena Gomez received a heartfelt, handmade gift from her longtime friend Taylor Swift for her 30th birthday, leaving Gomez and her husband Benny Blanco, completely amazed.

During an appearance on his Friends Keep Secrets podcast, Blanco recalled being “fully blown away” when Gomez pulled out the artwork from storage.

“I’m like, ‘Ah, this is perfect for the living room,’ and I said, ‘Who made this painting?’ It’s like one of the best paintings I’ve ever seen,” he said.

Blanco had assumed the work was by a well-known painter, but was stunned to learn it was created by Swift herself.

Gomez, 33, shared the deeply personal details of the piece. “She did it on an actual cloth, and she painted a beautiful lake at night, with the moon and the stars,” Gomez said.

“She painted our exact star signs hers [Sagittarius] and mine [Cancer], and she hand-sewed ‘Here’s to the next 30 years, From Taylor to Selena.’ Every letter was sewn by hand. It was the sweetest gift.”

The singer also reflected on her enduring friendship with Swift, noting that she inspired the song Dorothea on Swift’s 2020 album Evermore.

“Dorothea is about me,” Gomez explained. “We were figuring things out—relationships, family, love, hate—she captured it so eloquently. I’m so impressed by how it’s put.”

Gomez also revealed she inspired an unreleased song by Swift titled Family. “It was over a decade ago, and it was basically saying, without quoting, ‘You have these amazing dreams.

You want to be in a movie, in every crowd I see you, and you believe in my stupid dreams like playing stadiums.’ Now, when I listen, all of those things have happened. It’s really sweet,” she said.

The birthday gift highlights the close bond between Gomez and Swift, a friendship that dates back to 2008, when they met while dating the Jonas brothers.
