Australian singer Cody Simpson has opened up about some of his most talked-about relationships, reflecting on past romances with Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Miley Cyrus during a candid podcast conversation.

Appearing on the podcast We Need To Talk with Paul C. Brunson on March 10, the 29-year-old musician looked back at his early dating experiences in the spotlight and how each relationship shaped his life.

Simpson recalled that Jenner was his first girlfriend, revealing the pair met at the Los Angeles premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse in 2010.

At the time, Jenner and her sister Kendall Jenner were interviewing guests on the red carpet when they exchanged phone numbers.

“It was young,” Simpson said, remembering how their relationship lasted about a year. “I took her to the movies or something and we dated for about a year. We bonded through being in these unique situations.”

The singer also spoke warmly about his relationship with Hadid, whom he described as his “first love.” The pair dated on and off for about two years before splitting in 2015.

Simpson said he first noticed the supermodel after seeing her billboard campaign for Guess and jokingly came up with a creative way to get her attention.

“There was no music video,” he admitted while recalling how he initially called Hadid with a fabricated idea about casting her in one.

The story ultimately helped break the ice, leading to their first date soon after.

“It was kind of like she was my first love,” Simpson said, adding that they connected deeply during their time together and learned from each other.

He also noted that being around Hadid’s family, including her then-stepfather, legendary music producer David Foster, was a memorable experience.

Simpson also reflected on his relationship with Cyrus, which blossomed years later during the COVID-19 lockdown period.

The two artists had known each other since he was 18 but reconnected later in life when they were both navigating major personal changes.

“We did all the COVID lockdown together,” he explained, saying they bonded over their shared experiences growing up in the music industry and moving beyond their early pop images.

Simpson said Cyrus helped him during a period when he was exploring a more independent singer-songwriter direction in his career.

“I’ll always be grateful for that,” he said of their time together.

The pair ended their relationship in 2020 after about 10 months of dating, later describing the breakup as a mutual decision as their careers began moving in different directions.
