Rihanna shooting suspect charged with attempted murder, faces life sentence
Ivanna Ortiz was arrested Sunday, accused of firing multiple shots from an AR-style rifle at singer's residence
The woman accused of firing shots at Rihanna's Beverly Hills, California home while the pop star was in the residence has now been charged with attempted murder and may face a life sentence.
Ivanna Ortiz stood before a Los Angeles County judge for her arraignment and plea hearing on Tuesday, according to court records.
Besides the attempted murder accusation, she faces multiple other charges, including nine counts of assault with a firearm, two instances of shooting into an occupied home, and one of firing at a vehicle.
The individual accused of the attack on Rihanna's home is now facing attempted murder charges.
The 35-year-old attended court on Tuesday dressed in a blue jumpsuit and styled her hair in two blonde braids for her appearance, reports the California Post.
The woman did not issue a plea during the brief session. Her next court date for arraignment is scheduled for March 26.
Following the court session, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman stated that, given her charges, Ortiz might spend her life in prison.
Currently, Ortiz remains in custody on a $1.8 million bond, greatly reduced from her initial $10.225 million bail, and has been instructed to avoid contact with the "Work" singer and her partner, A$AP Rocky.
Tuesday's court appearance marked Ortiz's first public sighting since her arrest.
As we previously noted, Ortiz was taken into custody for attempted murder on Sunday following allegations she discharged 10 rounds from an AR-15-type firearm at the singer's California residence.
Rihanna shares the home with A$AP Rocky and their three children — RZA, who is 3, Riot Rose, aged 2, and their 5-month-old baby, Rocki Irish Mayers.
The incident reportedly occurred in broad daylight around 1:21pm.
