Kanye West is required to pay $140,000 as a result of a lawsuit concerning the musician's multi-million dollar property in California, as reported by several sources.

According to Rolling Stone and NBC News, the 48-year-old artist, now known as Ye, was deemed responsible by a Los Angeles Superior Court jury on Tuesday (March 10).

This conclusion comes after a two-week trial during which Tony Saxon claimed he wasn't compensated, was seriously injured, and was improperly fired while working on West’s $57 million Malibu house.

Saxon initially requested $1.7 million for damages. However, only $140,000 was granted, with no further punitive damages.

As reported by PEOPLE earlier, West initially bought his Malibu house in 2021 and then removed all internal fixtures and features.

In August 2024, Selling Sunset’s Jason Oppenheim, whose firm handled the sale, verified that it was pending escrow. It later sold for $21 million.

A legal complaint obtained by PEOPLE in September 2023 states that Saxon was hired as the property's project manager in September 2021.

Additionally, he was reportedly tasked with roles as “full-time security” and a “live-in caretaker” for the residence at a salary of $20,000 per week.

“Stay here now. You can’t leave,” West supposedly instructed Saxon, Rolling Stone shared, referring to Saxon’s courtroom testimony.

Saxon further alleged he only received one payment of $20,000. He claimed he had to sleep under “makeshift conditions” at the site, “finding bare patches on the floor and using his coat as a temporary bed,” according to the complaint. West allegedly disregarded these grievances.
