Jennifer Lopez reveals why she hit pause on work and love after split

Jennifer Lopez is embracing her “happy era” after her split from Ben Affleck, revealing that she took a deliberate pause in her life to focus on healing.

The 56-year-old singer reflected on her post-Bennifer 2.0 life ahead of her upcoming Las Vegas residency, sharing with Good Morning America that she “had to stop everything” to process the end of her marriage. 

“I canceled tours. I decided to just be home and sit in what had happened without running away from it through work, through another person, through anything. Just sit,” she said.

Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck in 2024 after two years of marriage, nearly 20 years after their first high-profile engagement ended in 2004. 

Prior to the split, she had canceled her summer tour to spend more time with her children, family, and close friends.

Reflecting on the breakup, Lopez said the experience helped her grow and develop self-awareness. 

“I was just at a point where I was like, ‘What is going on with you?’ Because I couldn't blame anybody else… I really wanted to figure myself out,” she explained.

Having always been in relationships, J.Lo said she now feels “free” on her own and is not actively seeking a new partner. 

“I've gotten to the point where I really trust myself and appreciate myself a little bit more instead of being so hard on myself all the time,” she shared.

Lopez is now focused on her Las Vegas shows and celebrating her twins Maximilian David Muñiz and Emme Maribel Muñiz, who recently graduated high school and will be attending college. 

“I am happy, and I am healthy, and I'm grateful. That's who I am today. And I'm surrounded by love, which is the best part,” she said.
