Speculation regarding Cher’s romantic future has intensified following her appearance at her son’s wedding on 8 March 2026.

Chaz Bono married his long-term partner, Shara Blue Mathes, in a ceremony that saw the 79-year-old icon sporting a significant diamond on her ring finger.

The jewellery has sparked rumours of an engagement to her partner, music executive Alexander "AE" Edwards, with whom she has been in a relationship since November 2022.

Industry experts have estimated the value of the centre stone to be substantial. Rustin Yasavolian, CEO at Masina Diamonds, suggested the piece could be worth between "$350,000 to $400,000” and weighs five to seven carats.

He observed that "The beautiful thing about the pear shape is that its elongated silhouette gives it a larger appearance than its actual carat weight.”

He further noted that "The issue some people face when designing elaborate engagement rings is that they sometimes don't blend well with other rings or bands.”

Sources close to the singer suggest a wedding may coincide with her upcoming 80th birthday in May. An insider claimed that "she has set her heart on walking down the aisle with him around the time of her landmark birthday in May," adding that the artist "sees her upcoming celebration at turning 80 as the perfect time for her and Alexander to seal the deal."

Despite a 40-year age gap, the couple appears committed to a shared future. Neither party has formally confirmed the engagement, yet the presence of the high-clarity antique cushion diamond remains a focal point for observers.
