Vietnam's Skyline Media expands Filmart lineup with comedy drama 'Father Of The Groom'
Skyline Media acquires international rights for Vietnamese family comedy-drama 'Father Of The Groom'
The Vietnamese company Skyline Media has acquired the global distribution rights for the family comedy-drama Father Of The Groom. This film, featuring seasoned actor Huu Chau, is directed by Nguyen Ngoc Lam.
This movie tells the story of a widower living in an isolated southern village in Vietnam.
Upon discovering he has a terminal illness, he makes it his mission to keep a promise he made to his late wife—finding a bride for their son.
However, his son, who resides in Saigon, has his own plans, leading to further tension in their relationship as they uncover each other's hidden truths.
Huu Chau, an acclaimed and cherished actor in Vietnam, recently starred in the 2025 success Face Off 8: Embrace Of Light. In Father Of The Groom, he is joined by Tran Kim Hai (Face Off 7: One Wish), portraying the son, along with esteemed actress Hong Van and promising talent Syni Trang (The Soul Lantern).
Produced by Galaxy Studio in Vietnam, Father Of The Groom premiered in Vietnamese cinemas in November 2025, yet Skyline is showcasing it to international buyers at Filmart.
“At the heart of Father Of The Groom lies a widely relatable tale of the emotional distance and affection between a father and son—a theme that strikes a chord with audiences globally,” expressed Hang Trinh, the Founder and General Director of Skyline Media.
“Additionally, the film provides viewers worldwide with a touching look at the unique allure and cultural depth of Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. We believe this blend of universal family emotions and genuine local identity gives the film significant potential to resonate with viewers well beyond Vietnam’s borders.”
Nguyen Ngoc Lam is not only a director but also a producer and actor, having appeared in U.S. productions like Ham Tran’s Journey From The Fall and Spike Lee’s Vietnam-themed Da 5 Bloods.
As one of Vietnam’s oldest sales agencies, Skyline is also promoting Oscar Duong’s upcoming cyber crime thriller The Fatal Dealz, featuring Lien Binh Phat and Korean actress Jang Hye-jin (Parasite) at Filmart, alongside the Vietnam-Thai horror thriller The Bride and Huynh Lap’s popular family comedy-drama The Ancestral Home.
Skyline founder Hang Trinh is spearheading a $3 million investment project, Triple Green CineCapital, aimed at financing and producing commercially appealing films for the Southeast Asian market, in collaboration with Singaporean producer Leonard Lai.
