Miley Cyrus has revealed she kept “every penny” she earned during her early years in the spotlight, crediting her parents for ensuring she never had to shoulder financial responsibility for the family.

The 33-year-old star rose to fame as a teenager on the hit Hannah Montana, which aired from 2006 to 2011 and launched her music career.

Reflecting on that period, Cyrus said her upbringing differed from many child stars whose earnings support their households.

“My parents didn’t need me to be famous to survive or to be stable,” she told Variety in an interview, adding that all the money she made was placed in her own account. “That was never my job.”

Cyrus also emphasized the role her family played in protecting her during her early career, particularly her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, who appeared alongside her in the series as her on-screen dad.

She noted that his constant presence on set ensured she was never left alone or in uncertain situations.

The singer also shared a lighthearted anecdote about her father’s audition for the show, recalling how he nearly lost the role by recommending other actors before her mother, Tish Cyrus, stepped in.

Looking back, Cyrus said their real-life bond ultimately secured the role, pointing to the natural chemistry they shared on screen.

“You can’t fake the kind of connection that we have,” she said.

Her reflections highlight a more stable side of child stardom, underscoring the importance of family support and financial independence during her rise to global fame.
