Alex Warren honors late parents with 2026 iHeartRadio breakthrough Artist Award
The 'Ordinary' singer was acknowledged at this year’s event held at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles
Alex Warren has been recognised as this year’s Breakthrough Artist at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
The singer-songwriter, at 25, was acknowledged at this year’s event held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Thursday (March 26).
"This is incredible," Warren, who delivered a performance of his hit “FEVER DREAM” before accepting his prize, began his address.
"I really hope I don't swear," the "Ordinary" artist quipped. "Three years ago, I was right over there in the audience as part of a band, and now to be performing on this stage feels surreal."
Warren then humorously mentioned that he was "not the popular kid growing up" and might have been "most likely to not become a Breakthrough Artist according to my entire school, even some teachers."
"Trying wasn't considered cool," Warren continued, remembering how his classmates had "created quirky nicknames" for him, kicked him out of parties, and how he once played his singing videos on the school projector to "get everyone laughing."
"I share this because if there's anyone at home feeling like they're not good enough or that no one believes in them, I do," Warren assured. "Truly, I do. You're destined for greatness."
He proceeded to express gratitude towards iHeart Radio program directors for broadening the reach of his music, along with thanking his wife, Kouvr Annon.
"A huge thank you to my incredible wife, I would still be without a home if it weren't for you," Warren said, extending his thanks to his team and record label, Atlantic Records.
"Thanks for making this music transcend beyond me and making it yours," Warren concluded his speech. "Lastly, to God and my parents, I truly hope you're watching. Can I sing loud enough for you to hear? I love you immensely and thank you for everything. You shaped who I am today. This is for you."
“Alex’s fanbase is incredibly devoted, and his impact continues to rise as he uses his platform to promote community, connection, and emotional vulnerability among fans,” according to the iHeartRadio site. “This accolade celebrates Alex’s spectacular rise, exceptional skills, and the strong bond he’s cultivated with listeners worldwide.”
Warren’s accolade comes following Gracie Abrams receiving the Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
He received nominations for eight iHeartRadio Music Awards, tying with Bad Bunny and Sabrina Carpenter for the second-most nominations this year.
Warren was a contender for Pop Artist of the Year and Pop Best New Artist, as well as in socially voted categories including Favourite Debut Album for You’ll Be Alright, Kid.
His popular track “Ordinary” was up for Song of the Year, Pop Song of the Year, along with socially voted categories Best Lyrics and Best Music Video.
Warren’s collaboration with Rosé “On My Mind” also garnered a nomination in the socially voted category Favourite K-Pop Collab.
Warren achieved a significant milestone this year with the release of his debut album You’ll Be Alright, Kid in the summer of 2025.
