Disney honours eleven stars for their extraordinary contributions to the company’s legacy
The Walt Disney Company has officially announced the eleven recipients of the 2026 Disney Legends Award, the highest honour bestowed by the studio.
Among the star-studded Class of 2026 are Anne Hathaway and Dwayne Johnson, both of whom are being recognised for their significant impact on Disney’s cinematic history.
Hathaway, who rose to fame as Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries, is set to reprise her iconic role as Andy Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada 2, which arrives in theatres on 1 May 2026.
Johnson is being celebrated for his work as Maui in the Moana franchise and his roles in Jungle Cruise and various theme park attractions.
The 2026 roster also includes former CEO Bob Iger, who is being honoured for his leadership and the acquisition of Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm.
Joining them are the Jonas Brothers, songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda, producer Jerry Bruckheimer, sports broadcaster Chris Berman, voice actors Susan Egan and Alan Tudyk, animator Eric Goldberg, and Imagineer Kim Irvine.
Newly appointed Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro, who succeeded Iger on 18 March 2026, stated that these honorees represent the "creativity that has shaped Disney into what it is today."
The official induction ceremony will take place on 16 August 2026, during the final day of D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California.
Hosted by Emmy-winning television personality Ryan Seacrest, the event at the Honda Center will feature special tributes and performances.
For fans unable to attend in person, the ceremony will be streamed globally on Disney+, marking a continued tradition of celebrating the "icons behind the magic" alongside the fans who support their work.
