The professional golf community has been left reeling following the arrest of Tiger Woods on Friday, in Jupiter Island, Florida.

The 50-year-old athlete was taken into custody by DUI investigators after a terrifying rollover car crash occurred just after 2pm local time near Beach Road.

According to authorities, the 82-time PGA winner was driving a dark-coloured Land Rover when he attempted to pass a utility pressure cleaner truck, allegedly clipping the trailer and causing his vehicle to roll.

Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek confirmed the details during a press conference shared on the department's Facebook page, stating, "Woods showed signs of impairment and refused a urinalysis test, leading to charges of DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test."

While his mugshot depicted a sombre appearance with bloodshot eyes, the Sheriff clarified that officers "weren’t suspicious of alcohol in this case" as the golfer "blew triple zeros" in his Breathalyser test.

Remarkably, Woods was alone in the vehicle and managed to crawl out of the wreckage uninjured.

This incident marks a distressing chapter for the sportsman, who previously pleaded guilty to reckless driving in 2017 following a similar encounter where he blamed an "unexpected reaction" to post-surgery medication.

This latest legal entanglement follows years of intensive recovery for Woods, who suffered permanent leg injuries during a near-fatal car accident in Los Angeles in 2021, an event that nearly ended his historic career on the green.
