Jana Duggar expresses heartbreak following Joseph Duggar’s arrest
Duggar family member Jana Duggar prays for justice after learning of grievous allegations
Jana Duggar has joined several members of her family in expressing profound "heartbreak" following the arrest of her brother, Joseph Duggar, on child molestation charges.
In a statement shared via Facebook on Thursday, the 36-year-old former reality star described the news as a "shock" that her family had no prior knowledge of.
Joseph, 31, was arrested in Arkansas on 18 March 2026 for allegedly molesting a nine-year-old girl during a 2020 family holiday in Panama City Beach, Florida.
"Our hearts are with the child who has been harmed—this is a grievous and unacceptable wrong," Jana wrote, adding that she continues to "pray for the victim and for justice to be carried out."
The legal situation escalated on 20 March when Joseph and his wife, Kendra, were also charged in Arkansas with four counts each of endangering the welfare of a minor and false imprisonment.
While Joseph has entered a plea of not guilty and remains free on a $600,000 bond, he is strictly prohibited from unsupervised contact with minors.
The allegations have fractured the "19 Kids and Counting" clan; siblings Jason and Joy-Anna have publicly condemned the "vile" and "disturbing" behaviour, while their aunt, Deanna Duggar, has urged Kendra to seek a divorce.
Conversely, their eldest brother Josh Duggar—currently serving a twelve-year sentence for possessing child sexual abuse material—has slammed the accusations as "false" from jail.
Jana, who married Stephen Wissmann in 2024, previously faced her own legal trouble in 2021 regarding a child endangerment citation, which she resolved by pleading guilty to a lesser charge.
