Rosie O'Donnell talks about meeting newborn grandson, calls it 'best day ever'

Rosie O'Donnell shares a glimpse into the touching moment when she first met her newly born grandson.

On Sunday (April 5), the 64-year-old comedian posted a photo on Instagram showing her holding her son Blake's baby boy, Anthony Joel.

"This is the best day ever," she wrote under the photo, which depicted her holding the infant while seated on a couch, wearing a face mask. "Say hello to my grandson Anthony. He's truly a beautiful baby."

"I'm so proud of the joyful parents Teresa and Blake," she commented, about her son Blake, 26, and his wife, Teresa.

In a different post, O'Donnell shared another image of herself, Blake, daughter Vivienne, 23, and her youngest, Clay, 13, sitting together on the couch as they took turns with the newborn.

"So thrilled to have Vivi and Clay with me to welcome the new baby," she captioned.

O'Donnell first shared the news of her fifth grandson's birth on March 28, writing on Instagram: "Welcome, Anthony Joel O'Donnell! My heart is bursting with joy."

“Congratulations to the proud mama Teresa and Blake Christopher — sending you all my love,” she added in the caption, sharing a black-and-white shot of her new grandson’s tiny foot in the hospital.

Her son and his spouse revealed they were expecting their first child in an Instagram post, a year after they got married. 

The September 22 post featured a photo of a baby onesie with "Baby O'Donnell March 2026" written on it, hanging beside a sonogram picture among sunflowers.

“Sunny days are on the horizon for us," the couple wrote as a caption. "Baby OD is expected in March 2026."

O'Donnell commented, "I’m over the moon with joy.” Blake’s mother, Kelli Carpenter (O'Donnell’s former wife), also replied, "This fills me with happiness! I love both of you so much, and your little one will be incredibly cherished! (And pampered!).”

O'Donnell has five kids, four of whom she co-parents with Carpenter: sons Parker, 30, and Blake, and daughters Chelsea, 28, and Vivienne. She shares Clay with her late ex-wife, Michelle Rounds.
