'Dune: Part Three' 70MM IMAX tickets selling out 8 months early
Dune: Part Three is set to release on December 18
Dune: Part Three is not hitting theaters until December 18, but Warner Bros has announced that tickets for the 70MM Imax screenings directed by Denis Villeneuve are already selling out in both North America and London.
According to a report, these sold-out Imax 70MM showings are scheduled for the debut weekend (Thursday-Sunday), with one screening per day across 19 Imax venues.
Expect more tickets to be available shortly for this Legendary-Warner Bros collaboration.
If you're curious about whether Dune: Part Three plans to change its debut date due to its clash with Disney/Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday, the answer is no, especially given the strong early sales figures.
For the first time in the series, Dune: Part Three was filmed using IMAX film cameras.
Warner Bros' President of Global Distribution, Jeff Goldstein, expressed, “This impressive result demonstrates that fans are eager to witness Dune: Part Three as intended—on the largest, grandest screens available.
Once again, Denis Villeneuve has created an unforgettable cinematic journey for audiences, whether they’re returning fans or discovering this universe for the first time.
We applaud Denis and our partners at Legendary and Imax for this thrilling achievement and can't wait to showcase Dune: Part Three to film lovers everywhere.”
Villeneuve co-authored Dune: Part Three with Brian K. Vaughan, drawing from Frank Herbert's novel Dune Messiah.
The film features Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Isaach De Bankolé, with Charlotte Rampling, along with Anya Taylor-Joy, and Robert Pattinson, and Javier Bardem.
Last summer, Universal and Imax initiated a presale event for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, releasing tickets a year ahead of its premiere weekend for 70MM Imax screenings (Thursday, July 16th – Sunday, July 19th, 2026), with many selling out within 12 hours.
